        AN ACT to amend the village law and the public officers law, in relation
          to the residency of certain officers of the village of  Schuylerville,
          county of Saratoga
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Subdivisions 24 and 25 of section 3-300 of the village law,
     2  as added by chapter 140 of the laws of 2014,  are  amended  to  read  as
     3  follows:
     4    24. Notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter or any other gener-
     5  al law, local law, ordinance, or special act, the village board of trus-
     6  tees  of the incorporated [village] villages of Schuylerville and Victo-
     7  ry, Saratoga county,  may,  by  resolution,  provide  that  the  village
     8  clerk-treasurer  of the [village] villages of Schuylerville and Victory,
     9  Saratoga county, need not be a resident of such [village] villages,  but
    10  must be a resident of the county of Saratoga, state of New York, or of a
    11  county which adjoins the county of Saratoga.
    12    25. Notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter or any other gener-
    13  al law, local law, ordinance, or special act, the village board of trus-
    14  tees  of the incorporated [village] villages of Schuylerville and Victo-
    15  ry, Saratoga  county,  may,  by  resolution,  provide  that  the  deputy
    16  clerk-treasurer  of the [village] villages of Schuylerville and Victory,
    17  Saratoga county, need not be a resident of such [village] villages,  but
    18  must be a resident of the county of Saratoga, state of New York, or of a
    19  county which adjoins the county of Saratoga.
    20    §  2.  Subdivisions 62 and 63 of section 3 of the public officers law,
    21  as added by chapter 140 of the laws of 2014,  are  amended  to  read  as
    22  follows:
    23    62.  In the [village] villages of Schuylerville and Victory, county of
    24  Saratoga, the provisions of this section requiring  a  person  to  be  a

     1  resident  of  the  political subdivision or municipal corporation of the
     2  state for which he or she shall be chosen or within  which  his  or  her
     3  official  functions  are  required  to be exercised, shall not prevent a
     4  person  from  holding  the  office  of  village  clerk-treasurer  of the
     5  [village] villages of Schuylerville  and  Victory,  provided  that  such
     6  person  resides  in the county of Saratoga or an adjoining county within
     7  the state of New York. Provided, however,  the  persons  performing  the
     8  functions  of  village  clerk-treasurer  in any other village shall be a
     9  resident of such village, unless otherwise provided by law.
    10    63. In the [village] villages of Schuylerville and Victory, county  of
    11  Saratoga,  the  provisions  of  this  section requiring a person to be a
    12  resident of the political subdivision or municipal  corporation  of  the
    13  state  for  which  he  or she shall be chosen or within which his or her
    14  official functions are required to be exercised,  shall  not  prevent  a
    15  person  from  holding  the  office  of  deputy  clerk-treasurer  of  the
    16  [village] villages of Schuylerville  and  Victory,  provided  that  such
    17  person  resides  in the county of Saratoga or an adjoining county within
    18  the state of New York. Provided, however,  the  persons  performing  the
    19  functions  of  deputy  clerk-treasurer  in  any other village shall be a
    20  resident of such village, unless otherwise provided by law.
    21    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
