         Administration) -- read once and referred to the Committee on  Judici-
         ary
       AN ACT to amend the judiciary law, in relation to grants or gifts to the
         unified court system
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Paragraph (n) of subdivision 1 of section 212 of the  judi-
    2  ciary  law,  as amended by chapter 44 of the laws of 1989, is amended to
    3  read follows:
    4    (n) Accept as agent of the state [with the approval of the chairmen of
    5  the senate finance committee and the assembly ways and  means  committee
    6  and  the  respective  judiciary  committees of each house,] any grant or
    7  gift for the purpose of executing the functions of his  OR  HER  office;
    8  provided, however, [that legislative approval as prescribed herein shall
    9  not  be  required  for  the acceptance of any grant or gift the value of
   10  which does not exceed five thousand dollars] WHERE A GRANT OR GIFT IS OF
   11  MONEY, THE CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR SHALL DISPOSE  OF  SAME  AS  PROVIDED  IN
   12  SECTION ELEVEN OF THE STATE FINANCE LAW.
   13    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
