          Children  and  Families  in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 --
          committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as  amended  and
          recommitted to said committee

        AN  ACT  to  amend the social services law, in relation to certain calls
          received by child protective services

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 424 of the social services law is amended by adding
     2  a new subdivision 7-b to read as follows:
     3    7-b.  In  the  event  child  protective  services receives a duplicate
     4  report on an open case that has not been founded, indicated or  referred
     5  to  services,  such  duplicate report shall merge with the open case and
     6  remain open for an additional thirty days for further investigation.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
