       AN ACT to amend the labor law, in relation to maintenance of division of
         employment services offices
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The opening paragraph of section 14 of  the  labor  law  is
    2  designated  subdivision  1  and  a new subdivision 2 is added to read as
    3  follows:
    4    2. THE DEPARTMENT  SHALL  MAINTAIN  DIVISION  OF  EMPLOYMENT  SERVICES
    5  OFFICES   WHICH   SHALL   PROVIDE   SERVICES   TO   THOSE  PERSONS  WITH
    6  EMPLOYMENT-RELATED NEEDS,  INCLUDING,  BUT  NOT  LIMITED  TO,  ACCEPTING
    7  APPLICATION  FOR OR ASSISTING IN THE CONTINUING MAINTENANCE OF UNEMPLOY-
    8  MENT INSURANCE BENEFITS. THERE SHALL BE AT LEAST ONE SUCH OFFICE IN EACH
    9  BOROUGH OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK AND EACH COUNTY  IN  THE  STATE  WITH  A
   10  POPULATION  OF  GREATER  THAN  150,000  AS DETERMINED BY THE MOST RECENT
   11  FEDERAL CENSUS.
   12    S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next  succeed-
   13  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
