        AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to prohibiting the use of  an
          inmate's fund to pay unpaid fees and surcharges
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Section 60.30 of the penal law, as added by chapter 791  of
     2  the laws of 1967, is amended to read as follows:
     3  § 60.30 Civil penalties.
     4    1.  This article does not deprive the court of any authority conferred
     5  by law to  decree  a  forfeiture  of  property,  [suspend  or  cancel  a
     6  license,] remove a person from office, or impose any other civil penalty
     7  and  any  appropriate order exercising such authority may be included as
     8  part of the judgment of conviction.
     9    2. Notwithstanding the provisions of subdivision one of this  section,
    10  the  court  may not suspend or cancel a license for the failure to pay a
    11  mandatory surcharge or fee imposed by this article.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
