STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5814--A 2023-2024 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY March 23, 2023 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. BURDICK -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Transportation -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system in the town of Lewisboro as the "John Jay High School Veterans Memorial Highway" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-o to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-o. Portion of state highway system to be designated as the "John 4 Jay High School Veterans Memorial Highway". All that portion of the 5 state highway system constituting state route 121 beginning with its 6 intersection at Route 35 Old Post Road and ending with its intersection 7 at Gideon Reynolds Road in the town of Lewisboro, county of Westchester, 8 shall be designated and known as the "John Jay High School Veterans 9 Memorial Highway". 10 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 11 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 12 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 13 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 14 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 15 ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be 16 changed as a result of this act. 17 § 3.
