        AN ACT to amend the military law, in relation to pay for  military  duty
          covering forty work days or sixty calendar days
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subdivision 5 of section 242 of the  mili-
     2  tary  law,  as amended by chapter 406 of the laws of 2017, is amended to
     3  read as follows:
     4    (a) Every public officer or employee shall be paid his or  her  salary
     5  or other compensation as such public officer or employee for any and all
     6  periods  of absence while engaged in the performance of ordered military
     7  duty, and while going to and returning from such duty, not  exceeding  a
     8  total  of [thirty] sixty days or [twenty-two] forty working days, which-
     9  ever is greater, in any one calendar year  and  not  exceeding  [thirty]
    10  sixty  days or [twenty-two] forty working days, whichever is greater, in
    11  any one continuous period of such absence.
    12    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately; provided,  however,  that
    13  if  chapter  406  of  the laws of 2017 shall not have taken effect on or
    14  before such date then section one of this act shall take effect  on  the
    15  same  date  and  in  the same manner as such chapter of the laws of 2017
    16  takes effect.
