       AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation  to  the
         periodic preparation of a state deer management plan by the department
         of environmental conservation
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 11-0305 of the environmental  conservation  law  is
    2  amended by adding a new subdivision 19 to read as follows:
    3    19.  TO PREPARE OR CAUSE TO BE PREPARED FROM TIME TO TIME A STATE DEER
    4  MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR  THE  WHITE-TAILED  DEER  (ODOCOILEUS  VIRGINIANUS).
    5  SAID  PLAN  SHALL ESTABLISH GOALS FOR DEER MANAGEMENT AND SHALL EVALUATE
    6  METHODS  FOR  POPULATION  CONTROL,  INCLUDING  HUNTING  REGULATIONS  AND
    7  FERTILITY CONTROL.
    8    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
