STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5459 2017-2018 Regular Sessions IN ASSEMBLY February 9, 2017 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. WEPRIN -- read once and referred to the Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to requiring the office of alcoholism and substance abuse services to encourage, aid, and facilitate clinical research into the use of ibogaine in drug treatment The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 19.07 of the mental hygiene law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision (l) to read as follows: 3 (l) The office of alcoholism and substance abuse services shall 4 encourage, aid, and facilitate clinical research into the use of 5 ibogaine in drug treatment for heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine 6 addiction. 7 § 2.
