RICHARDSON, J. RIVERA, SEAWRIGHT, WALKER, DE LA ROSA, NIOU -- Multi-Sponsored by -- M. of A. SIMON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to increasing fines for individuals who fail to comply with a stop work order The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 28-207.2.6 of the administrative code of the city 2 of New York, as amended by local law number 157 of the city of New York 3 for the year 2017, is amended to read as follows: 4 § 28-207.2.6 Penalties. In addition to the penalties provided for in 5 this chapter, any person who fails to comply with a stop work order 6 shall be liable for a civil penalty in the amount of [$6,000] $10,000 7 for the initial violation and [$12,000] $20,000 for every subsequent 8 violation, to be paid to the department prior to the rescission of the 9 stop work order; provided, however, this shall not apply to any work 10 performed to remedy an unsafe or hazardous condition as authorized by 11 order of the commissioner. 12 § 2.
