       AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to the powers of
         the canal corporation
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Paragraphs (n) and (o) of subdivision 7 of section 382 of
    2  the public authorities law, as amended by chapter 138  of  the  laws  of
    3  1997, are amended and a new paragraph (p) is added to read as follows:
    4    (n)  enter on any lands, waters, or premises for the purpose of making
    5  borings, soundings, and surveys; [and]
    6    (o) accept any gifts or any grant of funds or property from the feder-
    7  al government or from the state or any other  federal  or  state  public
    8  body or political subdivision or any other person and to comply with the
    9  terms and conditions thereof[.]; AND
   10    (P) WAIVE ANY FEE FOR A WORK PERMIT WHICH IT HAS THE POWER TO ISSUE IF
   11  IN  ITS  DISCRETION  THE PROJECT WHICH IS SUBJECT TO A WORK PERMIT WOULD
   12  ADD VALUE TO CANAL LANDS WITHOUT ANY COST TO THE  CANAL  CORPORATION  OR
   13  THE STATE.
   14    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
