       AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to the instructions  on  a
         ballot or voting machine for certain elections
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Subdivision 3 of section  7-108  of  the  election  law  is
    2  amended to read as follows:
    3    3.  In every instance where multiple casting of votes is permitted for
    4  two or more candidates for the same office or position, the  instruction
    5  on  the  ballot  or machine shall read "Vote for [any] UP TO .........",
    6  (the blank space to be filled with the number of persons to be nominated
    7  for the office or elected to the position).
    8    S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next  succeed-
    9  ing  the date on which it shall have become a law.  Effective immediate-
   10  ly, the addition, amendment and/or repeal  of  any  rule  or  regulation
   11  necessary  for  the implementation of this act on its effective date are
   12  authorized to be made on or before such effective date.
