       AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic  law,  in  relation  to  funeral
         processions
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is  amended  by  adding  a  new
    2  section 1144-b to read as follows:
    3    S  1144-B.  OPERATION  OF A VEHICLE; YIELDING TO A FUNERAL PROCESSION.
    4  (A) THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE APPROACHING A FUNERAL PROCESSION,  WHICH  IS
    5  MARKED  BY PLACARDS IDENTIFYING A VEHICLE AS SUCH, SHALL YIELD THE RIGHT
    6  OF WAY TO SUCH PROCESSION.
    7    (B) FAILURE TO YIELD TO A FUNERAL PROCESSION, OR TO  OTHERWISE  INTER-
    8  RUPT SUCH PROCESSION WITH A VEHICLE, SHALL BE PENALIZED BY A TWO HUNDRED
    9  DOLLAR FINE AND ONE POINT ON SUCH DRIVERS' LICENSE.
   10    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
