LENTOL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means -- recommitted to the Committee on Ways and Means in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said commit- tee AN ACT to amend the tax law, in relation to providing a tax credit for a portion of the cost of repairing certain fire hazards THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subsections (yy) and (zz) of section 606 of the tax law, 2 as relettered by section 5 of part H of chapter 1 of the laws of 2003, 3 are relettered subsections (yyy) and (zzz) and a new subsection (xx) is 4 added to read as follows: 5 (XX) CREDIT FOR REPAIRING CERTAIN FIRE HAZARDS. ANY RESIDENT OWNER OF 6 REAL PROPERTY AS DEFINED IN SECTION ONE HUNDRED TWO OF THE REAL PROPERTY 7 TAX LAW SHALL BE ALLOWED A CREDIT AGAINST THE TAX OTHERWISE IMPOSED 8 UNDER THIS ARTICLE IN AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO THE COST OF REPAIRING FIRE 9 HAZARDS COMMONLY KNOWN AS COCK LOFTS. 10 S 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall apply to taxable 11 years beginning on or after January 1, 2014.
