SEMINERIO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Tourism, Arts and Sports Development AN ACT to amend chapter 912 of the laws of 1920, relating to allowing and regulating boxing, sparring and wrestling matches, in relation to the contestants therein THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Section 5 of chapter 912 of the laws of 1920 relating to 2 allowing and regulating boxing, sparring and wrestling matches, as 3 amended by chapter 437 of the laws of 2002, is amended to read as 4 follows: 5 S 5. Boxing and professional wrestling exhibitions authorized. No 6 boxing, sparring or professional wrestling matches or exhibitions shall 7 be conducted, held or given within the state except in accordance with 8 the provisions of this act. The commission shall direct a deputy to be 9 present at each place where boxing or sparring matches or exhibitions 10 are to be held pursuant to the provisions of this act. Such deputy shall 11 ascertain the exact conditions surrounding such match or exhibition and 12 make a written report of the same in the manner and form prescribed by 13 the commission. Such boxing or sparring matches or exhibitions may be 14 held in any building for which the commission in its discretion may 15 issue a license. Where such match or exhibition is authorized to be held 16 in a state or city owned armory, the provision of the military law in 17 respect thereto must be complied with, but no such match or exhibition 18 shall be held in a building wholly used for religious services. 19 NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THIS SECTION, NO BOXING, SPARRING 20 OR PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING MATCHES OR EXHIBITIONS SHALL BE HELD BETWEEN 21 MALE AND FEMALE CONTESTANTS. 22 S 2.
