       AN  ACT to amend the election law, in relation to requiring the board of
         elections to cause all contribution forms to contain certain  language
         and  prohibiting  candidates  for  election  to  a  public office from
         accepting contributions from charitable organizations
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Section  3-102 of the election law is amended by adding a
    2  new subdivision 9-B to read as follows:
    3    9-B. CAUSE ALL CONTRIBUTION FORMS TO CONTAIN THE  FOLLOWING  LANGUAGE:
    4  "CONTRIBUTIONS  FROM  CHARITIES  OR  501  (C) CORPORATIONS ARE EXPRESSLY
    5  FORBIDDEN."
    6    S 2.  Section 14-114 of the election law is amended by  adding  a  new
    7  subdivision 1-a to read as follows:
    8    1-A.  NO CANDIDATE FOR ELECTION TO ANY PUBLIC OFFICE OR FOR NOMINATION
    9  FOR ANY SUCH OFFICE, OR FOR ELECTION TO ANY PARTY POSITION, OR A  TREAS-
   10  URER  OF  A  CAMPAIGN  COMMITTEE, SHALL ACCEPT ANY CONTRIBUTION FROM ANY
   11  CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION OR ANY OTHER TAX EXEMPT NOT-FOR-PROFIT ENTITY.
   12    ANY PERSON WHO VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF  THIS  SUBDIVISION  SHALL  BE
   13  SUBJECT  TO  A CIVIL FINE IN THE AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR EACH
   14  OFFENSE COMMITTED.
   15    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
