SYNOPSIS

     Requires DCA to post on its Internet website information about enforcement of maintenance violations for vacant and abandoned properties under foreclosure.

An Act requiring the Department of Community Affairs to post on its Internet website information about the enforcement of maintenance violations for certain  properties and supplementing chapter 48 of Title 40 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The Department of Community Affairs shall prepare and post on its Internet website information about the enforcement mechanisms available to municipalities under State law to regulate the care, maintenance, security, and upkeep of vacant and abandoned property on which a summons and complaint in an action to foreclose has been filed.

     This information shall first be available on the department's Internet website not later than the 60th day next following the enactment of P.L.    , c.    (C.    ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill).  Thereafter, the department shall periodically review the information, and shall revise the information as may be necessary to conform with any relevant changes in the law.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill would require the Department of Community Affairs to prepare and post on its Internet website information about the enforcement mechanisms available to municipalities under State law to regulate the care, maintenance, security and upkeep of vacant and abandoned property under foreclosure.

     The bill requires that the information must first be available on the department's Internet website not later than the 60th day next following the enactment of the bill; and, thereafter, the department must periodically review the information, and revise the information as may be necessary to conform with relevant changes in the law.
