An Act concerning notification of the exhaustion of unemployment benefits and supplementing chapter 21 of Title 43 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development shall give written notification to any individual receiving unemployment compensation pursuant to R.S.43:21-1 et seq., including any State or federal extension of the unemployment compensation, of the date of the final exhaustion of all unemployment compensation for the individual, not less than 1[three] four1 weeks prior to that date.  The written notification shall include a referral for services from the Department of Human Services and any other appropriate State agency to counsel and assist the individual to obtain any resources which may be available for the individual and dependents of the individual, including 1assistance regarding1 housing 1, child care, food, mental health, addiction services,1 and health 1care1 coverage 1[assistance]1.  The notification shall be distributed in a manner deemed by the commissioner to be the most practicable and cost effective, but that will ensure timely personal notification of each person.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.
