     Honors NJT employee Gerald Cameron for 30 years of service and impeccable safety record.

An Assembly Resolution honoring New Jersey Transit employee Gerald Cameron for his 30 years of service and impeccable safety record.

 

Whereas, In 1982, Gerald Cameron began building his successful career with an impeccable safety record as a bus operator for New Jersey Transit; and

Whereas, During his 30-year career, Mr. Cameron has served countless passengers, driven over 825,000 miles, and operated a commercial bus through some of the most congested streets in New Jersey as the bus operator for six different New Jersey Transit bus routes; and

Whereas, A man of fine character, while off duty in 2003, Mr. Cameron apprehended a thief attempting to break into the car of a nearby school teacher, and, in 2005, he detained a thief attempting to steal the belongings of a passenger until law enforcement arrived; and 

Whereas, Mr. Cameron received the Distinguished Service Award on October 11, 2006 for his performance in the areas of problem solving, teamwork, crisis remediation, and exemplary leadership within the New Jersey Transit organization; and

Whereas, Mr. Cameron has been recognized by the New Jersey Transit Board of Trustees and the Executive Director for his spotless safety record and exemplary service at each of his career milestones of 10, 20, and 30 years at New Jersey Transit; and

Whereas, On June 12, 2013, Mr. Cameron was honored by the New Jersey Transit Board of Trustees with the 30-Year Safe Driving Award, a high honor of which he was the only recipient this year; and

Whereas,  Given this record of accomplishment, this House finds it fitting and proper to honor Gerald Cameron for his outstanding career at New Jersey Transit and his impeccable safety record; now, therefore,

 

     Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    This House honors Gerald Cameron for his 30 years of service to New Jersey Transit and his impeccable safety record.

 

     2.    Duly authenticated copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested to by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to Gerald Cameron and the Executive Director of New Jersey Transit.  


STATEMENT

 

     This resolution honors New Jersey Transit employee Gerald Cameron for his 30 years of service and impeccable safety record.

     Gerald Cameron began his successful career as a bus operator with New Jersey Transit in 1982.  During his 30-year career, Mr. Cameron has served countless passengers, driven over 825,000 miles, and operated his bus through some of the most congested streets in New Jersey as the bus operator for six different bus routes.  After thwarting attempted thefts in 2003 and 2005, Mr. Cameron was honored with the Distinguished Service Award on October 11, 2006.

     Mr. Cameron has been recognized by the New Jersey Transit Board of Trustees and the Executive Director for his spotless safety record and exemplary service at each of his career milestones at New Jersey Transit.  On June 12, 2013, Mr. Cameron received the 30-Year Safe Driving Award.
