SYNOPSIS

     Provides for technological upgrade of application process for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

 

CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT

     As reported by the Assembly Human Services Committee on August 10, 2020, with amendments.

  

An Act concerning applications for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and supplementing Title 44 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    Consistent with federal law, the Commissioner of Human Services shall permit applicants for the ¹[federal food stamp program, authorized by Title XIII of] Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, established pursuant to¹ the "Food and ¹[Agriculture] Nutrition¹ Act of ¹[1977] 2008¹," Pub.L.¹[95-113] 110-246¹ (7 U.S.C.s.2011 et seq.), to apply by phone, ¹to¹ upload required documentation through an online application, and ¹to¹ submit required documentation by electronic mail if the online application is unavailable.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect 180 days after the date of enactment.
