STATEMENT

P.L.2003, c.205 (C.45:14-28 et seq.), provides for the certification by the State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers of persons installing, improving, repairing or maintaining medical gas piping within licensed health care facilities.  The law currently applies only to persons who are engaging in those activities which involve medical gas piping located after the source valve and intended for patient use within licensed health care facilities, or who are providing instruction to individuals who engage in such activities involving medical gas piping located after the source valve and intended for patient use within licensed health care facilities.

This bill expands the definition of "medical gas piping" in P.L.2003, c.205 so that the provisions of the law shall also require the certification by the State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers of persons installing, improving, repairing or maintaining medical gas piping within the offices of licensed dentists and dental clinics, and within animal or veterinary facilities.  The provisions of the bill only apply to persons who are engaging in those activities which involve medical gas piping located after the source valve and intended for patient or animal use within the offices of licensed dentists, dental clinics, and animal or veterinary facilities, or who are providing instruction to individuals who engage in such activities involving medical gas piping located after the source valve and intended for patient or animal use within the offices of licensed dentists, dental clinics, and animal or veterinary facilities.
