SYNOPSIS

     Allows member of Board of Public Utilities to serve as board member of New Jersey Transit Corporation.

An Act concerning membership on the Board of Public Utilities, and amending R.S.48:2-8.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    R.S.48:2-8 is amended to read as follows:

     48:2-8.  No member or employee of the board shall have any official or professional relation or connection with, or hold any stock or securities in, any public utility as herein defined, operating within this State, or hold any other office of profit or trust under the government of this State or of the United States; except that a member may be appointed pursuant to section 4 of P.L.1979, c.150 (C.27:25-4), and may serve, as a public member of the board of directors established thereby.

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately and shall be retroactive to January 1, 2020.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill allows the members of the Board of Public Utilities to serve as board members of the New Jersey Transit Corporation.
