An Act concerning compensation of presidents of public institutions of higher education and supplementing chapter 3B of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes. 

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, an employment contract between the governing body of a public institution of higher education and the president of the institution shall not include any payments, emoluments, or allowances in addition to the salary and benefits paid under the contract which have a combined value that exceeds 10% of the salary paid under the contract.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately and shall be applicable to employment contracts entered into on or after the effective date of this act.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill provides that an employment contract between the governing body of a public institution of higher education and the president of the institution cannot include any payments, emoluments, or allowances in addition to the salary and benefits paid under the contract which have a combined value that exceeds 10% of the salary paid under the contract.
