STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Two
AN ACT relative to license plate scanning.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Private Use of Number Plate Scanning Devices Regulated. Amend RSA 261 by inserting after section 75-c the following new section:
261:75-d Private Use of Number Plate Scanning Devices Regulated. Notwithstanding the provisions of RSA 261:75-b, or any other law to the contrary, an owner of private property may obtain and use a license plate reader (LPR) device in order to grant entry to vehicles authorized to enter the premises. The LPR shall be installed for the sole purpose of recording and checking license plates and shall not be capable of photographing or recording or producing images of the occupants of a motor vehicle.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
