A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO PERMIT SPOUSES OF SUPERINTENDENTS TO BE EMPLOYED BY A LOCAL BOARD OF EDUCATION.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 14‑234 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:

"(d7)    This section does not apply to employment contracts between a local board of education of a local school administrative unit and the spouse of the superintendent of the local school administrative unit."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
