Short Title:        State Highway Patrol/Reside in Same County.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to provide that a member of the state highway patrol shall not be required to reside in the county of their assigned duty station.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Article 4 of Chapter 20 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new section to read:

"§ 20‑192.1.  Residence of members.

A member of the State Highway Patrol shall not be required to reside in the same county that his or her duty station is located; provided that, a member shall not reside in a location that would prevent him or her from responding in a timely manner to a call for service."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
