A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to expand the board of commissioners of the town of parmele from three to five members.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Effective with the organizational meeting after the 2011 regular municipal election and applying to the 2011 election and thereafter, Section 3 of Chapter 60 of the Private Laws of 1893 is rewritten to read:

"Section 3. The Board of Commissioners of the Town of Parmele consists of five members elected at large for four‑year terms in 2011 and quadrennially thereafter. A mayor shall be elected by the qualified voters of the town in 2011 and quadrennially thereafter for a four‑year term. The elections are conducted on the nonpartisan plurality basis and the results determined in accordance with G.S. 163‑292."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
