Short Title:        Prevent Neural Tube Birth Defects/Funds.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS for the march of dimes TO continue to PREVENT OR REDUCE NEURAL TUBE BIRTH DEFECTS through the north carolina folic acid campaign.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, the sum of three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) for the 2011‑2012 fiscal year and the sum of three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) for the 2012‑2013 fiscal year.  These funds shall be used to provide outreach, educational materials, and vitamins through the North Carolina Folic Acid Campaign to reduce and prevent the occurrence of neural tube defects.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2011.
