A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to authorize the division of motor vehicles to issue permanent registration plates to certain nonprofit agencies that provide transportation services.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 20‑84(b) is amended by adding a new subdivision to read:

"(b)      Permanent Registration Plates. – The Division may issue permanent plates for the following motor vehicles:

…

(18)      A motor vehicle owned by a nonprofit agency that is a subrecipient of federal funds from the Nonurbanized Area Formula Program (49 U.S.C. § 5311) and used for providing public transportation services."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
