A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR EQUIPMENT FOR COMMUNITY COLLEGES.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Community Colleges System Office the sum of five million fifty‑nine thousand six hundred twenty‑four dollars ($5,059,624) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year to meet equipment needs resulting from record enrollment growth experienced by local colleges since fall 2009.

SECTION 2.  It is the intent of the General Assembly to ensure that funding for community college technology and equipment increases is consistent with student enrollment growth. The continuation requirements proposed by the Director of the Budget to fund the enrollment increases at the community colleges consistent with G.S. 143C‑3‑5 shall include adjustments necessary to fund additional Equipment FTE at the prior year's E/FTE rate.

SECTION 3.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2010.
