A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KATHERINE JELLUM FOR BEING SELECTED AS "INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR" REPRESENTING THE PERKINSTON CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Katherine Jellum, a resident of Biloxi, Mississippi, has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Jellum, a Language Arts and Honors Instructor, has taught at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past eight years; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Jellum received her Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in English Literature from The University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Education from Arkansas State University, a Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in English Literature from Southern New Hampshire University, and completed Quality Matters certification in March 2023; and

WHEREAS, Katherine Jellum has worked as an Adjunct English Instructor for Michiana College and as an English Teacher for St. Martin High School prior to her career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize an outstanding teacher, who has dedicated her career to teaching individuals of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Katherine Jellum for being selected as "Instructor of the Year" representing the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our heartiest wishes of success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Katherine Jellum, forwarded to the President of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
