A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2015-2016 FLORENCE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY COED CHEERLEADERS AND COACH WHITNEY ALLGOOD FOR WINNING THE SMALL COED MHSAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the 2015-2016 Florence High School Varsity Coed Cheerleaders led by Head Coach Whitney Allgood finished an outstanding season by winning their first Small Varsity Coed Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Whitney Hille Allgood is the new Head Coach for Florence High School Varsity Coed Cheerleading.  She has been a high school cheerleading Coach since 2009, and her background includes being the Varsity Co-Captain for Terry High School and three years of All-Stars with Mississippi Cheer Elite.  Whitney cheered four years for Delta State University, competed in two National Championships, and was Captain her senior year.  She has been Head Instructor for the National Cheerleaders Association for 11 years, and was also a competitive Gymnast for eight years and has four State Gymnastics Championships.  In addition to coaching, Whitney judges various competitions; and

     WHEREAS, the results of the team's competition are as follows:  First Place, Small Varsity Coed, MHSAA State Championship, 12-19-15 (1st State Title); First Place, Small Varsity Coed, UCA Dixie Championship, 12-5-15; First Place, Varsity Coed, Southern Spirit Challenge, Brandon High School, 11-7-15; First Place, Varsity Coed Advanced, Mississippi State Fair, 10-18-15.  The Florence High School Coed Squad competed at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Beach Club Cheer Camp in Gulf Shores, Alabama, this summer.  They received All-Superior Ribbons and Spirit Sticks throughout the week.  The squad also won First Place in the Cheer, Second Place in the Extreme Routine, and Overall Game Day Champs.  The cheerleaders were awarded the Traditions Award as well.  All ten seniors were selected as All Americans, and seven were asked to be a part of the prestigious UCA staff; and

     WHEREAS, the Florence High School Varsity Coed Cheerleaders Roster is as follows:  Seniors:  Brooke Dodd, Captain; Danyelle Lewis, Co-Captain; Courtney Jamison, Co-Captain; Bailey Turner; Brennan Boteler; Emily Daniels; Austyn Holmes; Tre Wright; Jamaal Lloyd; Roy Aguilar and Devonte Brown; Juniors:  Hope Metz and Kennedy Ruff; Sophomores:  Victoria Gray; Sydney Abernathy; Emma Wickens and Bailey Brantley; and Freshmen Macy Kate Greer, Savanna Ainsworth; Cydney Claire Ruff and Brianna Mason; and

     WHEREAS, the mission of the Rankin County School District is to prepare every student with the cognitive and social skills necessary to be productive members of an ever-changing global society; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2015-2016 Florence High School Varsity Coed Cheerleaders and Coach Whitney Allgood for winning the Small Coed Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship and extend our best wishes to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for continued success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Whitney Allgood for the team and Florence Principal Tony Martin, forwarded to the Rankin County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
