Senate Concurrent Resolution 574
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING HAROLD "LEE" LINDELL FOR HIS OUTSTANDING YEARS OF DEDICATED AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE TO THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS DIRECTOR OF THE LEGISLATIVE BUDGET OFFICE.
WHEREAS, Harold Lee Lindell, Director of the Legislative Budget Office, has announced his retirement from Mississippi State Government on January 31, 2011, after 33 years of outstanding service; and
WHEREAS, Lee Lindell was born on August 20, 1955, in Indianola, Mississippi, and was the son of the late Harold and Darthy Lindell of Clarksdale, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Lee Lindell graduated from Lee Academy in Clarksdale, Mississippi, in 1973 and furthered his education at Delta State University where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1977 and a Master of Business Administration Degree in 1978; and
WHEREAS, upon graduation from Delta State University, Lee began his career in state government in August 1978 as a Contract Analyst with the Commission of Budget and Accounting; and
WHEREAS, Lee began his work with the Mississippi Legislature when he accepted the position of Budget Officer with the Senate Appropriations Committee under Chairman Glen S. Deweese in August 1980; and
WHEREAS, Lee continued his employment with the Legislature through the implementation of the Mississippi Administrative Reorganization Act of 1984, at which time his position with the Senate Appropriations Committee became part of the organizational structure of the newly created Joint Legislative Budget Committee and Legislative Budget Office; and
WHEREAS, Lee Lindell was promoted to Deputy Director of the Legislative Budget Office in July 1987 and continued to serve in this capacity for 12 years under LBO Director Robert A. Greenlee; and
WHEREAS, Lee Lindell was promoted to Director of the Legislative Budget Office in February 2000 by the Joint Legislative Budget Committee under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Amy Tuck and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tim Ford. Lee continued to serve in this important position for 11 years until his retirement on January 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Lee Lindell has directly served the Mississippi Legislature for over 30 years and has participated in the preparation of every annual State Budget from Fiscal Year 1982 through Fiscal Year 2012 and has served under five different Lieutenant Governors and three different Speakers of the House; and
WHEREAS, Lee Lindell was married to Laura Grey Barlow of Jackson, Mississippi, on March 17, 1979. Lee and his wife, Laura, are the proud parents of two children, Robert Bradley Lindell of Nashville, Tennessee, and Laura Katherine Lindell of Jackson, Mississippi. Lee is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson and, prior to 1997, served as an Elder at his previous church home, Briarwood Presbyterian Church of Jackson; and
WHEREAS, Lee Lindell has been an exceptionally qualified and dedicated public servant who has devoted 33 years of his life in effective service to the Legislature and the State of Mississippi and has provided sound advice and counsel to legislators, state agencies and institutions throughout this period:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and commend Harold Lee Lindell for his outstanding service to the Legislature of the State of Mississippi as Director of Legislative Budget Office and extend to Lee and his family the thanks of a grateful state for this service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Harold Lee Lindell and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
