A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NESHOBA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL "LADY ROCKETS" SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH TRAE EMBRY FOR WINNING THEIR SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE 2018 MHSAA CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the 31st edition of the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 3A Slow-Pitch Softball Championships were concluded on October 20, 2018, at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland, Mississippi.  Neshoba Central capped a 30-1 record with their seventh consecutive State Championship after sweeping Wayne County 16-11 and 16-0 in the Class III Division.  The Lady Rockets' roster includes mostly underclassmen and just two seniors; however, Head Coach Trae Embry said that despite the youth on his team, the team played well throughout the year and had good leadership.  Hallie Billie and Tori Henderson took the reigns and made sure everyone stayed grounded and focused; and

     WHEREAS, each player on the roster has had the experience of winning at the State Championship level since 2012.  However, the players stated that the thrill of winning never subsides and for Seniors Tori Henderson and Hallie Billie, this title was unique; and

     WHEREAS, the 2018 Lady Rockets Slow-Pitch Softball Championship Team Roster is:  Hallie Billie, Tori Henderson, Destiny Dill, Mary Kate Hardy, Kenadie Quick, Shante Beaulieu, Elleigh Willis, Kylee Thompson, Reese Page, Jada Ben, Tenly Grisham, Lala Morris, Tana McClelland, Hama'ya Fielder, Mataeya Dixon, Nautica Bacon, Kaley Lathem, Heather Nicholson, Kylie Posey, Allie Williams, Anna Bell, Daylynn Mingo, Mya Willis, Sanya Jackson, Chloe Thompson, Erica Lyons, Tayla Willis, Christaysia Denson, Khearstean Thomas and Dakota Williason; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this special group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Neshoba Central High School "Lady Rockets" Slow-Pitch Softball Team for winning their seventh consecutive 2018 MHSAA Class 3A State Championship and extend our best wishes to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors for continued success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Trae Embry, forwarded to Neshoba Central Principal Jason Gentry and the Neshoba County Board of Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
