WHEREAS, Jacob Kight sank a 65-foot birdie putt on the final hole on May 4, 2017, at Big Oaks Country Club to give Nanih Waiya Attendance Center Boys Golf Team a one-stroke victory over Tupelo Christian Prep and an MHSAA Class 1A Golf State Championship; and

WHEREAS, Jacob Kight "just made a fantastic putt," TCPS Coach Grant Smallwood said.  "We really knew it was going to be close.  We didn't know how much up or down.  It came down to that putt."  Kight, a sophomore, won State Medalist honors for the second consecutive season, recorded a 36-hole total of one-over-par

74-71 -145.  Kight said, "Winning as a team was more satisfying than winning my individual title.  Just to celebrate as a team, it's awesome"; and

WHEREAS, it is with pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
