A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING MICHAEL MANSOUR, M.D., FOR HIS SERVICE AS CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF CARDIOLOGY.
WHEREAS, Michael Mansour, M.D., has been honored by his colleagues through his selection as Governor for Mississippi of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) from 2011�2014. Dr. Mansour is presently (2015) serving as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the American College of Cardiology, having dedicated three years as Chairman-Elect, Chairman and Past Chair of this prestigious organization; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Mansour is President of Cardiovascular Physicians, P.A, in Greenville, Mississippi; has been on the Medical Staff of Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Mississippi, since 1998; served as Chief of Staff of the hospital in 2002�2004; and has served on the Medical Executive Committee of the hospital since 1999. He holds the following other staff appointments in Greenville: 2001�present, Director of Non-Invasive Laboratory; and 2002�present, Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. He is Affiliate Faculty for the Department of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical School; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Mansour is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, and is a Fellow with the American College of Physicians (FACP), and is a Fellow with the American College of Cardiology (FACC). He is a graduate of Millsaps College and the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. He served as Chief Fellow in Cardiology at the University of Florida and Interventional Fellow in Cardiology at Harvard's Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Mansour belongs to the following professional associations and activities: American College of Cardiology Coding Task Force; 2012-2014, American College of Cardiology, Cardiometabolic Working Group; 2012�2014, Cardiology Task Force, Mississippi Department of Health; 2011�2014, Governor for Mississippi, ACC (American College of Cardiology); 2013�2016, Chairman, Board of Governors, ACC (three�year cycle of Elect, Chair and Past Chair); American Heart Association Clinical Cardiology Council; American Society Of Nuclear Cardiology; American Medical Association; American College of Cardiology; 2013�2016, Secretary�Treasurer, Mississippi State Medical Association; Mississippi State Medical Association Legislative Council; and 2007�Present, Vice President Delta Medical Society. Dr. Mansour has extensive professional publications; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Mansour is married to Kathleen Mansour, M.D.; and it is with great pride that we join his colleagues in honoring this health care professional whose good spirit and remarkable intellect has enriched the lives of his fellow physicians and staff and for his considerable contributions to his patients and the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize Michael Mansour, M.D., for his service as Chair of the Board of Governors of the American College of Cardiology, and extend our best wishes to Dr. Mansour, his family and to his fellow cardiologists.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Dr. Mansour, forwarded to the Executive Director of the Mississippi State Medical Association, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
