A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE CONSECRATION AND ELEVATION OF BISHOP DR. CHARLES E. BASS OF THE FAMILY WORSHIP CHURCH IN GREENVILLE, MISSISSIPPI, AND EXTENDING THE BEST WISHES OF THE LEGISLATURE.

     WHEREAS, on February 22, 2020, Bishop Charles E. Bass was recognized on the occasion of his elevation to the Office of Bishop in the Miletus College of Bishops; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop-Elect Dr. Charles E. Bass is the faithful Senior Pastor and Founder of Family Worship Church, Inc., in Greenville, Mississippi, which was founded on September 16, 2007.  He is a dedicated member of the Miletus Covenant Connection of the New Life Church, Inc., in Renova, Mississippi, under the leadership of his Spiritual Father in the Ministry, Bishop Roderick Mitchell.  Dr. Bass is a licensed Faith-Based Clinical Therapist through One Faith Ministry of Tutwiler, Mississippi.  Bishop-Elect Dr. Bass also serves as one of the Professors of Instruction at Exodus School of the Bible in Cleveland, Mississippi, where Bishop Roderick Mitchell is the President and Pastor Mary Mitchell is the Vice President.  He received his Doctor of Divinity from Triune Biblical University in June 2009.  Bishop-Elect Dr. Charles E. Bass is also the Founder of Sons In Covenant Fellowship (Fellowship of Churches and Ministries) established in 2019 and serves as the Spiritual Covering for Pastors; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop-Elect Dr. Charles E. Bass has been proclaiming the Gospel since April 19, 1981, after being ordained at St. Peter's Rock Baptist Church of Cleveland, Mississippi, where Reverend M.A. Reed, Sr., served as Pastor.  Dr. Bass is a graduate of American Baptist Theological Seminary with a Certificate in Christian Training.  He served as Dean of Bolivar County Educational Congress of Christian Education in Cleveland, Mississippi, and Dean of General Missionary Baptist Educational State Congress of Christian Education in Greenville, Mississippi.  He was called to Pastor the Greater Springfield Baptist Church of Greenville, Mississippi, in October 1988; there he served the saints faithfully through September 8, 2007; and

     WHEREAS, Bishop-Elect Dr. Charles E. Bass has offered guidance to individuals in need of counseling, advice, employment and legal assistance, positively impacting the community, and continues to be a strong role model as a dedicated husband and religious leader; and

     WHEREAS, we join the members of Family Worship Church in honoring a respected religious and community leader:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby celebrate the consecration/elevation of Bishop-Elect Dr. Charles E. Bass of the Family Worship Church in Greenville, Mississippi, and extend the best wishes of the Legislature on this auspicious occasion.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Bishop-Elect Dr. Charles Bass and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
