Senate Bill 2218

AN ACT TO REQUIRE PORTABLE CLASSROOMS TO BE TESTED FOR VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS; TO REQUIRE SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INDOOR AIR QUALITY TOOLS FOR SCHOOLS PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  Prior to using a portable classroom, a school district must have the Department of Environmental Quality test the indoor air for volatile organic compounds.  The school district shall have all portable classrooms tested periodically for volatile organic compounds.

     (2)  Each school district shall implement the Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools program developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
