A RESOLUTION COMMENDING RICHARD R. "DICKIE" CAPERTON UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS CITY OF LOUISVILLE ALDERMAN FOR WARD 1.

     WHEREAS, after serving three terms as City of Louisville Alderman for Ward 1, Richard R. "Dickie" Caperton has decided not to seek reelection, leaving behind a legacy of great public service to the citizens of his ward; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Caperton was first elected as Ward 1 Alderman for the 2005-2009 term, and due to his hard work and dedication, he was reelected for the 2009-2013 and 2013-2017 terms; and

     WHEREAS, while an alderman, Mr. Caperton completed the Basic, Professional Development and Advanced Level of the Mississippi Municipal Leagues' Certified Municipal Official Program, in order to better serve his constituents; and

     WHEREAS, a Winston County native and the self-employed owner of Caperton Auto Supply for many years, Mr. Caperton is a graduate of Mississippi State University, and has been married to his wife, Jennie, for over 50 years, in addition to being a 50-year Masonic Lodge member, a 40-year Rotarian, a Paul Harris Fellow and a lifelong member of First Methodist Church of Louisville; and

     WHEREAS, while his seat on the Board of Aldermen will undoubtedly be filled by someone well qualified for the position, it is also true that whoever that is will have big shoes to fill; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend fine Mississippians, such as Mr. Caperton, whose dedication to his constituents and the honor he brought to his position brings great pride to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the service of Mr. Richard R. "Dickie" Caperton as City of Louisville Alderman for Ward 1 upon the occasion of his retirement, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Richard R. "Dickie" Caperton, the City of Louisville Board of Aldermen and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
