A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE ESTEEMED CAREER AND COMMUNITY SERVICE OF CHARLES R. BRYAN AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM ENTERGY MISSISSIPPI, INC.

     WHEREAS, after nearly 40 years of dedicated service as an accountant for Mississippi Power and Light Company and Entergy, Charles R. Bryan is retiring after having first begun his career with one of Mississippi's major utility companies in 1973; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Bryan received a bachelor of science degree and master's degree in accounting from Mississippi State University before joining the United States Air Force in 1966, serving as a sergeant until 1969; and

     WHEREAS, in 1973, Mr. Bryan went to work for Mississippi Power and Light Company as an accountant, and he quickly climbed the career ladder, becoming the Director of Planning and Analysis in 1993, prior to his company merging with utility giant Entergy, Inc.; and

     WHEREAS, working for Entergy Mississippi, Inc., Mr. Bryan served as the Manager of Accounts Payable for Entergy Mississippi before receiving a promotion to account manager for the unregulated company affiliate, Entergy Retail Services; and

     WHEREAS, after working for Entergy Retail Services Business Market as a segment manager, Mr. Bryan was promoted to Customer Service Manager in the Vicksburg office in 1999, and shortly thereafter, he began serving in his current position as Regional Customer Service Manager of Entergy Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, as Regional Customer Service Manager, Mr. Bryan is responsible for customer service issues over a territory encompassing approximately 178,000 citizens in central Mississippi, in the counties of Hinds, Madison and Rankin; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Bryan strives to improve the relationship between Entergy and its central Mississippi customers through community outreach and involvement, in order to maximize the effectiveness of program resources by providing customer service perspective on cross functional teams and leadership for area projects; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Bryan is active in his profession, maintaining memberships in multiple professional associations, including:  the Jackson Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, serving as its president from 1990-1991; Alpha Kappa Psi, a national business fraternity; and Beta Alpha Psi, a national accounting fraternity; and

     WHEREAS, adamant in his efforts of giving back to the community through social, civic and charitable work, Mr. Bryan is active in several community-based organizations, including:  Jackson Rotary Club; Mississippi Children's Home Services, currently serving on its board of directors; Madison County Chamber of Commerce and Clinton Chamber of Commerce, serving as a past board member on each; American Legion; Habitat for Humanity; Rebuilding Together; Special Olympics of Mississippi; and First Baptist Church of Madison; and

     WHEREAS, before and throughout the length of his spectacular career, Mr. Bryan has been privileged to experience the blissfulness of love, support and encouragement from his wife, Jane Young Bryan, and their son, Brad; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the dedicated career and community service of such a remarkable individual as Mr. Bryan, whose career and service should be strived for by all citizens of this great state:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the esteemed career and community service of Charles R. Bryan and congratulate him upon the occasion of his retirement from Entergy Mississippi, Inc., and extend warmest wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors and for good health, happiness and peace of mind in the later years of his life.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Bryan and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
