A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MOTHER ALLEAN GREEN COLLINS AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING.
WHEREAS, born on July 12, 1935, and raised by the late Mrs. Willie Mae Carter Scott and her loving father, Mr. Cornelius Scott, Mother Allean Green Collins brought happiness and joy to the many friends and family members in her life; and
WHEREAS, Mother Collins spent her early years attending school in Patterson, Mississippi, but moved to Natchez in the 1950's; ultimately she returned to Jefferson County and earned her diploma from Liddell High School and accepted a custodial position at Alcorn State University; and
WHEREAS, Mother Collins accepted Jesus Christ at an early age; through time she felt called to holiness and began her fellowship with Elder Percy Herrington at the Church of God in Christ, Fayette, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, upon her return to Natchez, Mississippi, she connected with the Church of God in Christ, and under the leadership of Elder George Marshall, she became the Mother of the Church; and
WHEREAS, in Vidalia, Louisiana, Mother Collins found her heart pierced by the chivalry and affection of Mr. Willie Collins; the loving couple married and welcomed seven children through their holy union; and
WHEREAS, though Mother Collins has now transcended our physical, mortal world, her memory stirs warmth in the hearts of those who knew and loved her; Mother Collins is survived by: children, Willie L. Rollins, Delorise Rollins, Francean Sanford, Ozella Collins, Clyde T. Collins, Anntionette Collins and Cedric Collins; 28 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the exceptional contributions of individuals like Mother Allean Green Collins, who brought faith and joy to the hearts of those blessed to find themselves in her loving company:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby mourn the loss and commemorate the life and indelible legacy of Mother Allean Green Collins, and extend deepest sympathy to her family and friends upon her passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mother Allean Green Collins and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
