A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PARKLANE ACADEMY GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS 2015 AAAA OVERALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Parklane Academy Lady Pioneers girls softball team persevered through a remarkably arduous season, with endurance and tenacity, and they completed the season winning 32 of their 37 games played, culminating with the incomparable achievement of winning the 2015 Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) AAAA Overall State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, after a successful regular season, the Lady Pioneers entered the postseason with high hopes, earning their way to the state championship finals, needing to win two games to clinch the series and take home the championship; after losing the first of the three-game series to Hillcrest Christian School, the Lady Pioneers faced elimination, but they refused to see their dreams crushed and stormed back, winning two games in a row to clinch the Overall State Championship and raise the coveted trophy high above their heads; and

     WHEREAS, though the team faced adversity and challenges throughout the season, Head Coach Steve Sasser continued to rally his team and led them forward as he encouraged the Lady Pioneers to continue playing like the team they are, because playing like a team means "together everyone achieves more"; and

     WHEREAS, whether overcoming adversity or raising championship trophies high, the Lady Pioneers have proven that they are unmatched without comparison; the 2015 championship roster includes:  seniors, Lauren Williams, Morgan Webb, Taylor Murray, Callie Snow, Mikaela Smith and Kymberli McDowell; juniors, Mabry Glass, Bre Carr, Destini Brown, Courtney Creel, Carrington Jefcoat, Shelby Siebert, and Mary McLean Lindsey; sophomores, Madison Webb, Lana Moak, Elizabeth Platt and Hannah Creel; and

     WHEREAS, leading the Lady Pioneers to this prestigious achievement includes Head Coach Steve Sasser and Assistant Coaches Brittney Davis and Eric Farnum; and

     WHEREAS, through uncompromising effort and dedication, the Lady Pioneers Softball Team finished the season ranked No. 1 in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Fast Pitch Softball Teams, proving they truly are champions; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of student athletes such as the Parklane Academy Lady Pioneers, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Parklane Academy Lady Pioneers softball team for completing an excellent season and capturing the 2015 Mississippi Association of Independent Schools AAAA Overall State Championship, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Steve Sasser, Parklane Academy and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
