A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE, LEGACY AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF MRS. KAREN RENEE ANDERSON AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING.
WHEREAS, Ms. Karen Renee Anderson, a gracious scholar, departed this earthly life at the age of 49 on December 5, 2010, to enter into eternal rest, causing great sorrow and loss to her family and many friends; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson was born on December 11, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, to her loving parents, Dr. James Anderson and Selena Helm Anderson, who reared her in Christian love; and
WHEREAS, as one who was instilled with knowing the importance of receiving an education, Ms. Anderson graduated from Jim Hill High School in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1978, where she excelled in academics as a National Merit Scholar as well as a star student, which is a testament of her dedication to academics even as a youth; and
WHEREAS, known for her passion for books, writing and literature, Ms. Anderson earned a bachelor of arts degree in English literature from Princeton University and a master of arts degree from Tulane University, where she received the prestigious Pew Teaching Fellowship from the English department; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson, after successfully completing her bachelor's degree from the prestigious ivy league institution of Princeton and a master's degree from Tulane, continued her quest for knowledge at yet another ivy league institution, Yale University Law School, where she was a candidate for a juris doctorate; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson, a welcoming woman with multiple talents, had a successful career as a training specialist with Bianco Hopkins and Associates in Atlanta, Georgia, where she made vast contributions to those she trained and to the company as a whole; and
WHEREAS, throughout all of her endeavors, Ms. Anderson was unconditionally and lovingly supported by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. James Anderson and her loving siblings, Ruby and James; and
WHEREAS, although Ms. Anderson has crossed the river of life to now stand on golden heavenly shores, the legacy of her memory will continue to live in the hearts of her survivors; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life of such an inspiring and caring individual as Ms. Anderson whose love of life and knowledge positively influenced all those she encountered:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and works of Ms. Karen Renee Anderson and express deepest sympathy to her family and many friends upon her passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Ms. Karen R. Anderson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
