A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING WILLIAM AND CALA TABB UPON THE DISTINCT HONOR OF BEING NAMED NATIONAL AND STATE YOUNG FARMERS AND RANCHERS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD RECIPIENTS.
WHEREAS, on January 11, 2016, William and Cala Tabb from Webster County, Mississippi, received the crown jewel farming award when they were named National Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award after having been named Mississippi award recipients weeks earlier in December, as the result of many years of hard work, dedication and commitment to bettering their craft; and
WHEREAS, these distinct honors recognize the young farmers and ranchers who have excelled in their farming or ranching operations and have exhibited superior leadership ability; and
WHEREAS, this achievement punctuates 13 years of hard work and unrivaled dedication to their profession; and
WHEREAS, though these 13 years began with many challenges and unforeseen obstacles, Mr. and Mrs. Tabb now farm 2,600 acres of cotton, soybeans, corn, wheat, sweet potatoes, peanuts and produce, owning 500 acres themselves; and
WHEREAS, while Mr. and Mrs. Tabb have continued to innovate their farming operation, they have also established meaningful connections with local grocery stores, local restaurants and local consumers, by affectively utilizing social media to further promote agriculture awareness and appreciation across the state; and
WHEREAS, in addition to their passion for agriculture and giving back to the community, Mr. and Mrs. Tabb also share the enduring love of four children, Brady, Grant, Adalee and Gibson; and
WHEREAS, as state winners, Mr. and Mrs. Tabb received a new Ford F-150, the use of John Deere and Kubota tractors, an award of $500.00 and another award of $1,800.00 toward the purchase of technology from the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation; and
WHEREAS, as national winners, Mr. and Mrs. Tabb received their choice of either a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado or 2016 GMC Sierra and their paid registration for attendance at the 2016 Young Farmers and Ranchers Leadership Conference in Kansas City, Missouri; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to share in the enthusiasm of citizens of this state that represent Mississippi through outstanding accomplishments, such as Mr. and Mrs. Tabb who have earned both state and national Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Awards and bring great acclaim to Webster County and the State of Mississippi as a national leader in agriculture:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. William Tabb and Mrs. Cala Tabb upon receiving the state and national Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award, and extend best wishes for success in all of their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. William and Mrs. Cala Tabb and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
