House Resolution 24
(As Adopted by House)
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING FEBRUARY 7-14, 2012, AS "NATIONAL MARRIAGE WEEK."
WHEREAS, marriage creates a united entity out of two formerly separate lives, binding couples together in a network of affection, mutual aid and mutual obligation, committing parents to their children and connecting children to a wider network of relatives; and
WHEREAS, God ordained the sanctity of marriage as a holy and sacred union between two people who promise to love, honor and respect each other and give themselves faithfully to each other for so long as they both shall live; and
WHEREAS, a marriage relationship is like no other, with a man and woman dedicating their separate lives to one another, cultivating a bond that is strong enough to surpass and overcome the most vital and decisive moments; and
WHEREAS, the stability of a strong union benefits spouses and children, leading them to enjoy a life of health, longevity and satisfaction; and
WHEREAS, a devoted, healthy and loving marriage deserves our respect, as it affords a safe haven for children to develop and grow and to benefit from the marital bond that is dedicated to the emotional, moral, educational and financial benefits of two parents:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize February 7-14, 2012, as "National Marriage Week," celebrating the sacred bond that enhances personal growth, mutual fulfillment and family well-being.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
