A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE VALOR AND SELFLESSNESS OF SFC CLYDE WILLIAMS UPON HIS AWARD OF THE 2023 ARMY NATIONAL GUARD DIRECTOR'S 54 AWARD FOR THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.

     WHEREAS, SFC Clyde Williams joined the North Carolina Army

National Guard on August 30, 2011, and he attended Mars Hill University on a football scholarship and graduated with a bachelor's degree in music, and just 12 years later, he was awarded the 2023 Army National Guard Director's 54 Award for the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, SFC Williams attended Fort Lee's Quartermaster School where he was awarded Honor Graduate for the Unit Supply Specialist MOS, and he proudly served as the RSP Coordinator's Assistant for the Recruiting and Retention Battalion until 2014; and

     WHEREAS, in 2015, SFC Williams relocated to Okolona, Mississippi, to help with the family funeral home business, and he attended East Mississippi Community College where he graduated at the top of his class with an associate's degree in funeral service technology; and

     WHEREAS, SFC Williams joined the Mississippi Army National Guard and re-classed to a Chemical NCO at the 198th CAV Regiment in Booneville, Mississippi, and in 2018, he accepted a Recruiting and Retention position where he has made or exceeded his yearly milestone every year; and

     WHEREAS, in RY 19, SFC Williams was awarded Rookie of the Year, and successfully enlisted 22 soldiers into the Mississippi Army National Guard, and that same year, he graduated from a very tough 74D Advanced Leaders Course in which he was awarded Honor Graduate; and

     WHEREAS, in RY 21, SFC Williams graduated from 79T Senior Leaders Course and was again awarded Honor Graduate, and in RY 22, he was awarded Alpha Company Recruiter of the Year and was the Director's 54 Runner-Up; and

     WHEREAS, SFC Williams won the Director's 54 Award for the State of Mississippi and successfully completed 125% of his annual mission in RY 23, and he also serves as the Equal Opportunity Advisor for Alpha Company of the Recruiting and Retention Battalion; and

     WHEREAS, SFC Williams' awards include the following:  (1) Meritorious Service Medal, (2) Army Commendation Medals, (4) Army Achievement Medals, (1) Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, (1) National Defense Service Medal, (1) Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, (1) Army Service Ribbon, (1) National Guard Recruiter Basic Badge, (1) National Guard Recruiter Senior Badge, (1) National Guard Recruiter Expert Badge, (2) Mississippi Longevity Medals and (1) Mississippi Medal of Efficiency; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and salute heroic, patriotic Mississippians, especially those such as SFC Clyde Williams, for his unparalleled dedication and incomparable service to the United States of America and the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend the valor and selflessness of SFC Clyde Williams upon his award of the 2023 Army National Guard Director's 54 Award for the State of Mississippi, and extend sincere wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors. 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to SFC Clyde Williams and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
