A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PELAHATCHIE HIGH SCHOOL CHIEFS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND THEIR COACHES UPON AN OUTSTANDING 2014-2015 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 1A SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Pelahatchie High School Chiefs Boys Basketball Team finished an outstanding 2014-2015 season in the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A with a record of 21 wins and 7 losses; and
WHEREAS, the Chiefs won the First Annual Rural Rankin County Tournament, went undefeated in the district (12-0) and reached the MHSAA Class 1A State Quarterfinals; and
WHEREAS, LaChaz Irvin was named District Player of the Year, Dyllan Taylor was named Metro Player of the Week, and they both, along with Keldrick Stokes, were named to the All-District Team; and
WHEREAS, Coach Rod Taylor, District Coach of the Year, is a dynamic leader whose vision for successful basketball motivated him to form and develop a winning team; and
WHEREAS, the 2014-2015 Chiefs' team is composed of the following members: LaChaz Irvin, Dyllan Taylor, Jalen Taylor, Keldrick Stokes, Jaymon Johnson, Jadarious Johnson, Tony Beeman, Noah McCain, Michael Coleman, Javeious Purvis, William Houston, Zavies Lay, Desmond Mcgee and DaChawn Kincaid; and
WHEREAS, the members of this team will carry the memories and lessons of hard work, dedication and perseverance learned during this amazing season throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, such as that displayed by the Chiefs Boys Basketball Team, and it is with great pride that we congratulate this group of student athletes and their coaches, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to their state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Pelahatchie High School Chiefs Boys Basketball Team upon an outstanding 2014-2015 Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A season, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches for continued success in all of their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Pelahatchie High School, Head Coach Rod Taylor and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
