House Resolution 111
A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING AND COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MR. ROBERT DAVIS, SR., AND CONGRATULATING HIM UPON THE CELEBRATION OF HIS 100TH BIRTHDAY.
WHEREAS, Mr. Robert Davis, Sr., a native of Port Gibson, Mississippi, is celebrating the blessed milestone of the occasion of his 100th birthday on April 16, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Davis has seen America change from primarily an agricultural society to an advanced technological and industrial giant during his lifetime, and on his watch has observed the actions of numerous United States Presidents and Mississippi Governors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Davis was born to a loving family in Claiborne County, Mississippi, enjoyed working on the family farm, dutifully served in many capacities and learned to love farming; and
WHEREAS, at life's intersection of love and affection, Mr. Davis was blessed in marriage to the late Rosie Douglas Davis and the late Hattie Parker Davis, and he is the father of 13 children; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Davis retired from farming after 65 successful years in Sunflower County, Mississippi, where he enjoys life and lives it with a great sense of pride; and
WHEREAS, known for steadfast service to his community, Mr. Davis believes service to others to be rewarding, and he is loved and admired as a role model by his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Davis gives God the glory for all that he has achieved in life, and he always puts his family, farm and community first and places himself a distant second in his daily life without complaint; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor and recognize the life of such an astonishingly noble, experienced and temperate soul as Mr. Davis:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby acknowledge and commend the life of Mr. Robert Davis, Sr., congratulate him upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th birthday and extend warmest wishes for many more years of good health, love and peace.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Robert Davis and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
