A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE VICKSBURG HIGH SCHOOL GATORS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2010-2011 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE 6A DISTRICT AND 6A NORTH STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

WHEREAS, the Vicksburg High School Gators Boys Basketball Team finished the 2010-2011 season with an outstanding record of 27 wins and four losses; and

WHEREAS, the Gators did very well in the state playoffs this year, winning the 6A District Championship and the 6A North State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the 2010-2011 Gators Boys Basketball Team was comprised of the following members: Dominique Brown, Rashad Gaines, Cameron Cooksey, Willie Gibbs, Avery Grays, Joshua Gaskins, Kendrick Ferguson, Edward Davis, Daniel Taylor, Kienta Ross, Alvin Stamps, Tyrone Moore, Ricky Butler, Jerome Woodson, Mychal Ammons, Melvin Corners, Norman Price, Tre'Darius Carter, and Ladarrie Ward and the managers of the team were Dewayne Jackson, Terrence Cox and Brandon Dorsey; and

WHEREAS, the Gators have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Dellie Robinson and Assistant Coaches Kelvin Carter and Troy Stewart, Jr., who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Gators finished the season ranked second in their division, third in the state and 256th in the nation; and

WHEREAS, the Gators have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Vicksburg High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Vicksburg High School Gators Basketball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Dellie Robinson and Assistant Coaches Kelvin Carter and Troy Stewart, Jr., for their outstanding 2010-2011 season, for winning the 6A District and 6A North State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Vicksburg High School, Head Coach Dellie Robinson, Assistant Coaches Kelvin Carter and Troy Stewart, Jr., and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
