A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MORTON HIGH SCHOOL PANTHERS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH MARCUS STRIBLING FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2013-2014 SEASON AND FOR FINISHING AS THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS 3A SOUTH STATE RUNNER-UP AND CLASS 3A FINAL FOUR.

     WHEREAS, the Morton High School Panthers Boys Basketball Team finished the 2013-2014 season with an outstanding record, and finishing as MHSAA Class 3A South State runner-up and Class 3A Final Four; and

     WHEREAS, on February 28, 2014, the Panthers defeated Prentiss High School in the South State Tournament to secure a place in the State Tournament, where they finished as runner-up; and

     WHEREAS, the 2013-2014 Panthers Basketball Team are: Dartavious Harris, Jimmy Blackwell, D.D. Bowie, Tyree McAroy, Kadeem Scott, Steven Elizundo, Kolby Lloyd, Michael Hays, Cody Davis, Marshall Lloyds, Reyshod Frazier, Kez Bowie, J.D. Boyd, Roti Ware; Managers, Dontay Williams, Mahari Kincaid; and Bookkeeper, Renee McDougle; and

     WHEREAS, the Panthers have been superbly coached and inspired by second year Panthers Head Coach Marcus Stribling and his capable assistant coaches, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, the Panthers, who have averaged 18.5 wins over Head Coach Stribling's two seasons at the helm, have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Morton High School; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state such as the young men of the Morton High School Panthers Boys Basketball Team, who are its future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Morton High School Panthers Boys Basketball Team and Head Coach Marcus Stribling for finishing as the 2013-2014 Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 3A South State runner-up and 2013-2014 Class 3A Final Four, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Morton High School, Head Coach Marcus Stribling and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
